Priscilla Liguori of WEBN-TV Boston TV News reports on the Eddie Bruckner painted piano for the Celebrity Series of Boston "Play Me, I'm Yours" Street Pianos Boston 2016 Exhibit. 9/25/2016.

Boston’s painted pianos are a hit
By Priscilla Liguori 9/25/2016

Boston is starting off the fall season on a fabulous note.

People of all ages and backgrounds are coming together to share their passions for music.

Sixty pianos have been added around the city of Boston, each painted by local artists and community groups. All the pianos have different designs but include the inviting words “play me, I’m yours.”

“It’s a great way to see the city,” said piano player Hope Ralph. “It’s fun to just come out and play all over town.”

The Boston-themed piano placed at City Hall Plaza has quickly become a hit. The instrument has the State House, Zakim Bridge, Red Sox, and Citgo sign painted on it.

“I painted the Citgo sign in one of my paintings and it sold, and the next day I started to paint this piano,” said the artist Eddie Bruckner. “So I guess that’s what kicked off my Boston theme.”

People are using the hashtag #streetpianosboston to connect on social media about their experiences at different pianos.

The instruments will line the streets of every Boston neighborhood until October 10.

A map with their locations is on the program’s website:

The Celebrity Series of Boston is running the street piano program. “Play Me, I’m Yours” was created by Luke Jerram and has been used in more than 50 cities around the world.
