  1. Not complaining, mind you! This whole thing is tremendous;

    just a "scouting" report for those who may not be able to get to them all.

    Thanks; I hope I run into you somewhere out there so I can shake your hand!

  2. The tuners will be out soon to check on this Piano! Thanks, Dale. They're going to come out about once a week to make sure the pianos are doing okay in this hot August weather.
  3. Something I forgot to mention:

    The low end (especially the second E below middle C) has kind of a "semi-muted" attack: that key in particular, and the othersaround it, to an extent, sound almost like a doublebass plucking pizzicato....

    A neat and unique effect. Walking bass lines would be particularly unique on this instrument.

  4. I played this piano yesterday afternoon. This is one that's seen some wear over the years, but really reminds me very much of my own. All the keys work, but the top of the black key 3 F#'s above middle C has been lopped off.

    The key coverings are aged, lots of cracks and chips on the edges. It's just "character"; part of a long musical journey.

    She's out of tune, but not too badly. This one is right at the entrance to the center, (right by the door) so it's under some cover. It's a true upright, (like mine), and someone kindly left some music on a tac for folks to play:

    Let it Be by Lennon/McCartney
    Theme from Star wars by John Williams

    Easy arrangements, too! Super idea! Maybe youngsters who are into piano might check them out, and "play a new song" Anyway, I played "Let it Be".

    I didn't feel quite right doing Sunday Gospel right in front of the JCC, (though my Savior was Jewish...),

    so I elected to play Gustav Mahler. I saw the "Lamentation Songs" are on tap for May Festival 2011, as well as other GREAT choral works. Great choice! I did exerpts from the Resurrection Symphony.

    Good ol' piano; the passersby also with some nice comments here. One of the nice things about this exhibit is some pianos are "right there" with the public, and some are somewhat secluded.
