23. Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport

Community Group: Boys & Girls Club – Grant Woods Branch. Artist: Lauren Lee. Donated by Hazel Howkins. Sponsored by: Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport.

David, 16, playing his most recent Chopin piece on the street piano at the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona. We did a lot of recordings on this piano - liked the piano and it was a great location! Visit http://streetpianos.com/mesa2016/ to see all the Mesa Street Pianos. Also, check out his George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" performed on stage when he was 15 at https://youtu.be/6jWClfUKHK8

Ha, so funny! It probably wasn't a bus full of people - more likely an airplane, or ten, full of people!

Sad, but I don't think you considered the fact that Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport is the SPONSOR of this piano - and most likely your EMPLOYER. I believe the Gateway Airport is probably all about service - and happy customers. Are you? We saw a lot of happy travelers enjoying the piano and the music. Perhaps you need a different job. Or a different attitude towards your job - and life. Just sayin :)

On the day when my son played, there were those who worked at the airport that were part of the audience, enjoying the music and clapping afterwards. Perhaps my son could have your salary, make happy customers (and workers) and play the piano all day! Just sayin :)

David playing Franz Liszt, Concert Etude No. 3, Un Sospiro on the Mesa Street Piano No. 23 at the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. Great piece, great piano, great location!

Slow, sad, calm, quiet and haunting. David Wright, 16, playing "Gnossienne No. 3" by Satie on his 22nd Street Piano, at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. Even with the number of people around it seemed that the sound echoed.

David, 16, playing "Valse Caprice" by R. A. Newland, on his 22nd Play Me, I'm Yours Street Piano. It was nice with this one being inside, not needing protection from the weather. This was a great location and beautiful piano - and many travelers were pleasantly surprised to have piano music going on. One gal asked David to do Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. He was able to play some of the more memorable parts - good thing it was still somewhat in his memory! They enjoyed it.

David, playing another piece that seemed to fit the look of the piano - an old French one called "Mademoiselle De Paris". This was his 22nd street piano to play.

David, entertaining the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport passersby with piano music. This is "To a Wild Rose" played on his 22nd Street Piano. Thought it an appropriate piece for the beautiful piano.

Playing a beautifully decorated grand piano at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. First in my quest to play them all in their "native" habitats.

My first piano on my quest to play all the Mesa Street Pianos. Thank-you to the Play Me I'm Yours team and all those who helped put these around. I've played them in other cities and have a lot of fun doing so.
