Two things: First, was momentarily confused by a different piano that's on the other side of the park (the "street piano" is on the library side), which has a schedule of players displayed next to it. Second, the street piano was locked (just dropped by there maybe 15 minutes ago).
Still, I think this is a great idea. Just having some execution issues, at least with this location.

Dropped by at 1:45 pm. Bummed, again...piano locked. On lunch break?

Have tried to play at three different locations and the pianos were either locked or I was told by park staff that I couldn't play. Aren't the pianos supposed to be available to the public? Or, in the case of the one at Bryant park, just for professional players?
Still, I think this is a great idea. Just having some execution issues, at least with this location.
