Unfortunately children have been playing this piano too hard. It looks like its now out of action. Nearest piano from this location is north at Greeley Square.
Perhaps this is a part of the art experience: a woman and group if friends showed up after 6pm tonight and interrupted a couple of toddlers enjoying the instrument saying they had "reserved the piano for 6 pm." Now I've been all over this site and have seen nothing that allows any of these pianos to be reserved. Was she for real or was she just FOS? I thought it was outrageous that she would interrupt a child playing a piano situated in a playground. I hate to see this wonderful situation hijacked by producers trying to get their acts a venue, or pushy yuppies deny kids their first musical experience so they can get to happy hour. Grow up, folks. Have we really become that needy?

Here from Dallas on business. Took a breather from the photoshoot up the block to tickle the ivory with some NYC kiddos at the playground this afternoon. Truly inspiring stuff!

This is a follow-up to my wrong-headed post at 11:48 today, about there being no bench there. It's obvious, after opening my eyes and looking around the park, that one merely has to pick up one of the many chairs located throughout the park and bring it into the area.

I went to Madison Square Park Monday (21st) and Tuesday (22nd). I did not see a bench or stool there. Did I miss something, maybe I did not look closely enough?

J. Roddy Walston and The Business played their way through NYC - throwing more than 25 mini-concerts at the city's most iconic locations. Manhattan has 29 spots with pianos - to be played by any passersby - as part of the summer public art project "Play Me, I'm Yours," designed by British artist Luke Jerram and sponsored by the nonprofit Sing for Hope.
