Jayla & Darria live in the neighborhood and came here on a Tuesday morning with their Mom. "Too crowded last evening," they said, "so we're here early today!" They were two serious musicians.

Thanks, guys! The tuners will be out soon to take a look at the piano! They're going to come around about once a week to check up on the pianos. We're so thankful for them!!

This piano is very good rustic instrument, a little out of tune but you can tell it has character, today me and my bandmate went up to it to play it for a little bit and ended up writing a pretty good song and we sat there and played it for a good two hours trying to finish the song

I liked the design, the mural and the shade! My brother Jay liked this piano the best of all others we have tried.

I played this piano yesterday afternoon. This is the first piano in the exhibit I've played with so much "character"! Obviously it's had a long a useful life; great to be a part of the next journey.
The top of the black keys:
3 F#'s below middle C
3 D#'s above middle C
have been lopped off, but the keys all play. Some stickiness about 4 C's and C# and D above middle D.
The sustain pedal works, but when playing fortissimo and the sustain pedal is down, you get some "finger-cymbal like" rattling, which gives it
almost a flavor of prepared piano....especially C and G below middle C.
Still, the bass is pretty solid, and the piano, while out of tune is not so out of tune as to be totally intolerable. Some might say it's a piece of junk, and there's no doubt it's best years are behind it, but there's always a life and use: this could be used for effectively forragtime and honkey-tonkin'.
It reminds me very much of the old, beat-up, hardly tuned piano's that we would play in the gym at summer camp back as kids. A wonderful remembrance of childhood, and a nice sunny day.
Being Sunday it was gospel yesterday. Hallelujah! Thine the Glory!
Lastly, there is a three-sided tarp over the little wooden stand where the piano is, which protects you from shade, and some tables and bushes at that corner.
This piano is located very near to where the old "Light House" used to be in Silverton, where I lived briefly as a boy. Nice to be back in the neighborhood after so long.
