Hope the pianos still playable - thats the main thing.. Sounds like the piano may appreciate some redecoration.. If we think of it as a canvas for painting and then repainting, the piano can go through several transformations....??

Everyone is distressed as the piano looks so horrible, but perhaps you are right about leaving it....someone is actually playing it now, so it can't be too bad. We have asked the community to perhaps come and redecorate it !

In my opinion, I do not think the piano needs to be cleaned. Has anyone seen the pianola outside the Queen Victoria Building? It was first painted white, then mint green and gold, and a tree was planted in it. Streetpianos invites passersby to "decorate the pianos" and I think the painting of them enhances the creative experience and compliments the expression of improvisational artistry.
