Working on my goal to play all of the street pianos set up for the Street Piano project in Mesa. My goal is to play every one and use a different song on each one. The end of the project is coming in a few days, so I had to do some evening recordings - some - like this are pretty dark. There were no lights around. This #20 for me. The song is The Counting Crows "Accidentally in Love."

Nice spot for this piano -- right near the fish and chips place.

David at the "Fish Piano". He played "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" as that was one the leader of the Harmonikats liked to request. They are an instrumental group, mostly harmonica players, that David accompanies weekly at a retirement home. Bill recently passed away and since music was a lifelong passion and pursuit for Bill, this is in his memory.
This is from his memorial; As a young boy he earned the money to buy his first violin and pay for music lessons. He was a member of many civic orchestras in the cities where he lived (Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Wilmington, Tucson and Tempe). Once he was asked if he could play the viola as there was a need in the orchestra - so, he went out and bought one and added that to his musical expertise. He joined the Tucson Civic Orchestra when he retired and was president for a time. He also played in bell choirs and helped to lead the KATS harmonica band at Friendship Village. His first harmonica was given him by an aunt when he was 5.
Last spring he donated his violin and viola to Bringing Music To Life (www.bringingmusictolife.org) , a Colorado-based non-profit whose purpose is to collect, repair and distribute music instruments to public schools throughout Colorado. His two instruments were part of the 600+ instruments given to 43 schools in September 2015
He was a wonderful man. Bill, you are truly missed.

Report this commentDavid, 16, playing "Sea Foam" on his 6th Street Piano. Tied in nicely with this fish-themed piano and Pete's Fish & Chips at Mesa Drive & Main Street.
